We recently held one of the most important conversations about race in the media, marketing and comms/earned media sector this summer: ‘Let’s be BOLD about the subject of ‘Race’’ was hosted by BAME2020 Amanda Fone and Adrian Walcott (co-founders of BAME2020) and Sereena Abbassi Worldwide Head of Culture & Inclusion at M&C Saatchi).

65 industry leaders from marketing, advertising and PR attended the fish bowl style event at M&C Saatchi’s offices where we listened as people shared their journey about the reality they faced on a day-to-day basis within the industry. What we all agreed on was that there was too much talk and not enough action. So we have agreed is that we must set goals and create action plans. One of the ideas discussed was volunteering in schools.  Inspiring the Future does great rewarding work. Sign up and they will send you opportunities to help, educate and encourage pupils about our industries. As Sereena Abbassi so eloquently says:

“Each drop of water wears away the stone but we can do better; MUCH BETTER! And it’s the responsibility of ‘everyone’ no matter what ‘label’ is given to you, to invest time, budget and effort to afford opportunities to others that we battled to obtain for ourselves, or for others. Let’s be BOLD about the subject of ‘Race’”.
