Carlie Walker  joined f1 at the end of June 2019 as Sector Lead for Marketing, Communications & Partnerships within Sports & Entertainment.

She has over 18 years of recruitment and sales experience working as a senior recruiter with companies such as LinkedIN, Reed and TotalJobs.

Carlie has a wealth of experience advising high level senior decision makers including C-Suite and working with brands such as Nandos and  Chelsea FC. She has also worked with companies advising them about implementing diversity initiatives around returners and the gender pay gap!

What were you doing before you joined f1? 

I was working at LinkedIn as a Senior Manager  and then I was at Work180 as a Business Development Manager – Work 180 is  a female diversity job board.

What position did you join f1 as and what was your brief? 

Sector Lead Sports and Entertainment. To build on f1’s existing profile in the sports and entertainment sector and accelerate our growth.

What attracted you to the job?

Progression, Culture, BAME2020, Reputation in the industry.

What has been your most awkward or embarrassing moment?

Cooling myself down with ice at  the summer party.

What have you found the most challenging in your first 3 months?

Getting to grips with understanding the nuances of PR/Marketing – earned owned shared and partnerships

What did you think would be easy but turned out to be tricky?

Industry knowledge.

What has been your biggest achievement?

Bonding with my team.

What are the most important things to accomplish in your first three months?

Growing my team and going above beyond the targets set.

What are your goals going forward?

Continue to grow and develop team and be the best in the industry.

How can you prepare for a new job before you start?

Research Research Research.

What advice would you give starting yourself now looking back?

Crash course in PR and Communications.

Have you changed anything about yourself since starting working?

No, being myself has enabled me to bond with my team.

Where is you ‘go to’ lunch venue?

M&S – pulled chicken salad!
