‘Life begins at the edge of your comfort zone’ sums up the introspective and informative day 5 at #Back2Businessship in the very welcoming Hill+Knowlton Strategies London office. This post is written by delegates Priya Dsouza and Katiso Ndlela

After graduating in Retail Marketing Leon travelled across Asia and Australia before starting his recruitment career with a large, international Agency.  He cut his teeth in Marketing Recruitment before working in the Finance Recruitment discipline for several years.  His passion however has always been within the Marketing and Digital sectors.  Settling in London in 2013, Leon’s initial remit was Marketing professionals into Financial Services and Banking but he has broadened his network across other sectors including Retail, Tech, NFP and B2B through to VP level for both retained, search and contingency assignments.  Over his career Leon has worked with boutique, National and International recruitment consultancies.  He has also spent time in-house on a 12 month contract for the Church of England where one of his main achievements and focuses was to bring more diversity to the Corporate Services teams (this included Communications recruitment).

Leon has always been focused on introducing more diverse talent into his clients’ marketing and digital teams.  In his words, ‘f1 is a very natural progression for the next stage of my career.  With their robust, long term commitment to EDI, I can bring my expertise to help f1 clients create more inclusive cultures for diverse talent to develop and thrive.  Throughout my career I have always aimed for diverse short-lists and challenged the “norm”, whether the  lack of diversity be race, sex, sexuality, disability or socio-economic’.  Leon has also been a spokesperson for the cutting edge YMCA campaign about body image.
